The style guide used at ISL is The Harvard Method, Cite them Right, 10th edition. Book copies of this guide are available at the circulation desk in the Secondary Library for reference or check out. It is recommended that students use either Paperpile or Zotero to organise information for the bibliography. The full ISL Guide to Referencing and Citations, including the International School of Lausanne’s style sheet can be found on the Student Portal. Refer to it whenever you compile references and bibliographies.
Teachers regularly stress the importance of academic honesty and emphasize that you should always take great care to avoid plagiarism. When you properly acknowledge the contributions to knowledge made by other people, you are showing respect for their work, and you are giving credit where credit is due. Good practices of academic honesty are introduced, taught, modelled and used throughout the school. If a student is unsure of the expectations you should ask a teacher for advice.
